Fungi are ancestral masters. Their capacity for regeneration, transformation, recycling and connecting the environment gives us pause to reflect on the reciprocal relationships and the collaborations in play in the natural environment. To adopt as a model for our own lives the strategies developed over millennia by mycelia is both a romantic utopia and a necessity.
Contemporary art is a laboratory in which artists experiment with a great diversity of materials to explore the issues of the day. The exhibition «Underground. Exploring Ecosystems» invites us to consider the profusion of our interconnections and interdependencies and to view today's globalised world as an opportunity for creativity and regeneration. Nature, accordingly, becomes a source of inspiration, not only for art but also for the development of new social models.
Curated by Carole Haensler, Luce Lebart and Joana P.R. Neves.
With Pepe Atocha, Mirko Baselgia, Ishita Chakraborty, Laurie Dall’Ava, Lise Duclaux, Stephen Gill, LANDRA - Sara Rodrigues & Rodrigo Camacho, Marion Neumann and a special project of Gabriela Albergaria.
