A special feature of the Villa dei Cedri Museum is its rich monographic collection, which has been enriched over the years by purchases, donations and contributions. The collection consists mainly of works of art, but not only. Archival documents, sketchbooks, matrices for prints, etc. form a heterogeneous material that makes it possible to expand and deepen the knowledge of each individual artist: the context in which the works were created, how they were worked and the techniques used. Monographic collections therefore make it possible to reconstruct the artistic journey and creative process of artists. The museum thus becomes a centre of excellence for these specific artists or at least an important source for their studies. The monographic collections of the Villa dei Cedri reflect the museum's vocation to intensively document artists in order to promote their knowledge and to bring the artistic and cultural debate into the dialogue between the different collections and the different artists of the collection. |
